Bring on Spring!
The Muskoka Concert Band is welcoming spring this year with “Here Comes the Sun!”, our annual spring concerts on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Trinity United Church in Gravenhurst at 2:00 pm and on Monday, May 29, 2023 at Trinity United Church in Huntsville at 7:30 pm.
The band will feature a variety of music that is sure to delight. You’ll hear several pieces with a spring theme to them including an overture called “Acclamations” by the acclaimed American composer Ed Huckeby, and two selections that remind us of the beauty of spring in Muskoka - “Incandescent Sky”, a brand new work by Robert Sheldon and the hauntingly beautiful “In a Gentle Rain” by Robert W. Smith.
Trumpeter Neil Barlow will be featured on the theme from the Concierto De Aranjuez and, for our big band fans, our principal clarinetist, Kim Barlow, will get your toes tapping with an exciting “Tribute to Artie Shaw”. We’ll round out the program with some musical gems from Carmen and some of the most popular songs from the 60’s and 70’s from the musical “Jersey Boys” that tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. You might even hear a little music from the Beatles!
Tickets are $20 (children under 12 are free) and are available in advance through Eventbrite (credit) or at the door (cash only).
